A leader of the ruling AAP and Sarpanch of Valtoha Sandhuan village Jarmal Singh, along with the driver of his car, was shot at and injured by three motorcycle-borne armed men who opened fire at them near Valtoha village on Tuesday. In his complaint to the Valtoha police, Jarnail Singh said that he had been receiving extortion calls from gangster Prabhjit Singh alias Prabh Dasuwal for more than six months. The gangster was seeking Rs 30 lakh by way of extortion money. He said he was on his way back home in his car being driven by his driver when three motorbike-borne armed men opened fire at them. Both he and his driver were injured. They were admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Jarmal Singh runs a business.

In another incident, Daljit Singh, a businessman and a resident of Warian Nven village, was fired at on the outskirts of Naushehra Pannuan on Tuesday by two motorcycle-borne armed miscreants. He was purchasing paneer from the dairy when the armed men fired at him. He had a narrow escape in the attack.

The Valtoha and Sarhali police have registered a case under relevant sections of the BNS and Arms Act against Prabh Dasuwal and Lakhbir Singh Landa besides five others.
