The girl and youth later confessed that they suffered from addiction and used to consume pharmaceutical drugs. They said after the intervention of the police, they wanted to get treated and detoxified at the de-addiction centre.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (East) Gurinderbir Singh Sidhu informed that the Rambagh police identified the two and counselled them to seek treatment at the de-addiction centre where efforts would also be made to rehabilitate them after training in some skilled work.

He said earlier too, preventive action was taken against them twice but after coming out of jail, they were again found involved in drug abuse near the bus stand.
