The district administration has rolled back its idea of establishing another food street at Gol Bagh (at the cost of the green cover) after it got a flak from different quarters.

Keeping in mind the objections of the city residents, the municipal corporation took back the decision to build a food street in Gol Bagh and now the food street would be built only on the suggestions of people.

Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, who also holds the post of Commissioner of Amritsar Municipal Corporation, said this decision was taken keeping in mind the objections of the people. He added that the biggest problem for the municipal corporation was to keep the streets free from encroachments. He said usually the carts and rickshaws were placed in front of the shops which cause road congestion and traffic chaos.

He said now the officials have been instructed to make new planning for developing food street. He also appealed to the residents of the city that they could give their suggestions on WhatsApp number ‘79738-67446’.
