Amidst existential crisis in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Akal Takht today asked 17 former Sikh Akali ministers, who were part of the SAD government from 2007-2017, to clarify their stance on controversial decisions taken by the party during that period.

On August 30, five high priests held a meeting at the Akal Takht secretariat to discuss the issue after which the Akal Takht Jathedar had pronounced SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal ‘tankhaiya’ and had summoned other Sikh ministers of the then SAD Cabinet holding them equally guilty when the contentious moves were taken by the government. They were given a 15 days to submit their reply in person at Akal Takht.
