The district administration and traffic police have finally tried to sort out the traffic mess outside the bus stand in Phagwara. It has been decided that all buses will now go inside the bus stand to pick passengers. Earlier, passengers felt great inconvenience in boarding a bus, government- owned or private, for destinations like Jalandhar, Amritsar, Jammu, Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur and Nakodar as none of the bus drivers entered the bus stand and stopped their buses on the national highway nearby creating a traffic jam.

Traffic police in-charge Aman Kumar Daveshwar said here today that commuters will now comfortably board their buses from inside the bus stand. Replying to a question, he said that efforts are also being made with the help of the Municipal Corporation and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to ensure smooth traffic on highways by making arrangements for Ludhiana-bound buses to enter the bus stand. This could also help the PRTC in terms of revenue as it operates from the Phagwara bus stand.
