Amritsar: Doctors at the Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research have reimplanted the right foot of a 17-year-old person. The person’s foot had got amputated after falling from a trolley while working in fields. The patient, along with the amputated foot, was brought to the hospital within an hour of the accident, stated the doctors. The surgical team included Dr Rana Ranjit Singh, Dr Gurlal Singh, Dr Karanvir Singh, Dr Anurag Salwan, Dr Anmol Singh Randhawa and Dr Harpreet Multani. Dr Vikas Kakkar, plastic and microvascular surgeon, who supervised the surgery, said it was technically complex and challenging. TNS

Stranded people sent back home

Tarn Taran: Around 150 residents of other states who had been stranded here since the lockdown were sent back to their homes by the administration on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal said the migrants left on buses from the local bus stand. The DC said 90 men, woman and kids who were from Kanpur departed for Ferozepur on three buses. They would be screened at Zira and sent to their state on a train from Ferozepur. The other 60 have been sent for Rajasthan would be dropped at the state border. OC

7 GND varsity pupils get jobs

Amritsar: Byju’s, a leading education company, has selected seven students of Guru Nanak Dev University at an annual package of Rs10 lakh. Of them, five are from MBA and two are from BTech (computer science) branches. They will join in July 2020. A total of 454 students applied for the said post. The selection process comprised online interviews. The names of selected students from the MBA course are Parth Mehra, Anuj Mahajan, Mohit Batra, Ritesh and Vaibhav Mittal. TNS
