Tarsem Singh, father of jailed MP Amritpal Singh, urged people to attend the ‘Panthic’ gathering on Maghi festival at Muktsar Sahib on January 14. During the event, Singh announced plans to launch a new political party, aiming to change the current situation and direction of Punjab politics.

Four potential names for the party are under consideration, including Shiromani Akali Dal (Anandpur Sahib). Singh alleged that the Muktsar Sahib administration is creating obstacles to prevent them from organising the rally. He warned the government not to interfere, emphasising that they are working within the constitutional framework.

Singh criticised the incumbent leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for failing to lead the Punjabi community and prioritising personal interests. He highlighted the ongoing farmers’ protests and morchas against desecration incidents, stating that the government is not addressing these issues seriously.

“No government is serious about our issues. We invite all the well-wishers of Punjab and ‘Panth’ to join us,” said Tarsem Singh.

Regarding Khalistan, Singh clarified that they aim to address Punjab’s issues within the constitutional framework, without focusing solely on one issue. He emphasised the importance of introducing youth leadership, prioritising health and education, and ensuring representation for Hindus and other communities in the party.

Singh also denied the authenticity of a letter supposedly written by Amritpal Singh, condemning his mother’s statement against Khalistan, claiming that no such letter has been released from jail.
