Four girl students of Revel Dale Public School participated and secured the first position for their team in a tournament in which several teams of North region participated and showed their distinct skills. In the u-19 category, four girls of the school took part and notched up the second position for their team. The upcoming girl athletes of the school are vibrant sports enthusiasts and are determined to take glory of their state to still greater heights at the national level competition being held in Hyderabad on August 30 under the aegis of CISCE.
Saplings planted
A tree plantation drive was organised by the Legal Action Aid Welfare Association under the directions of the Ministry of Environment at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road. The chief guests on the occasion were CJM Rachpal Singh and Legal Action Aid national president Sharad Vashishth, besides other dignitaries from the association who also graced the occasion as special guests. The future guardians of the planet, students enthusiastically took part in the drive and planted several saplings. Water is a vital resource to life on earth, so conserving water will ensure its availability for the future generations. Keeping this motive in mind, a short movie ‘Jal Hai To Kal Hai’ was also featured. Dr Pallavi Sethi, principal of the school, expressed her gratitude to the chief guests and other dignitaries for taking up this initiative and making students aware of the need to conserve mother Earth.
Aug 4 last date for B.Arch course
B.Architecture, a five-year programme, is run in the Department of Architecture of Guru Nanak Dev University. A few seats are lying vacant in the program for the academic session 2024-25. Dr Pankaj Chhabra, head of the department, said the candidates willing to take admission are required to apply on the university website. He said eligibility for admission to UG program B.Arch. is 10 2 scheme of examination with physics, chemistry & mathematics subjects or the candidate must have passed 10 3 diploma examination with mathematics as compulsory subject and the candidate has qualified an aptitude test in architecture conducted either by the Council of Architecture, i.e. NATA or NTA i.e. JEE (B.Architecture) as prescribed in the university admission prospectus. The mode of admission will be on the basis of combined merit of valid NATA/NTA score and qualifying examination in the ratio of 50:50. Counselling will be held at the Department of Architecture, GNDU campus, by the Head, Department of Architecture. Last date for submitting the application fee and online application form is August 4. Counseling will be held on August 6.
Havan performed
BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, organised a havan to seek the blessings of the Almighty on the first day of the session 2024-25. Amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and offering of ‘aahuties’ in the sacred fire, principal Dr Pushpinder Walia, along with members of teaching and non-teaching staff, prayed for the progress, prosperity and well-being of the college. In her address, principal Dr Pushpinder Walia motivated the new students to adopt Vedic and spiritual values in their lives. She congratulated the staff and students of the college for scoring distinguished rankings in India Today’s Best College Ranking List of India 2024 and also for being ranked amongst the region’s best institute by a leading newspaper group of North India ‘The Tribune’. She added that the college has been honoured with District Environment Championship Award for the session 2024-25 and Best Principal Award by the National Education Trust, an organization registered under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
Plantation drive held
As per the instructions of the Punjab Government, a Van Mahotsav was celebrated at Government ITI, Ranjit Avenue, on Thursday. Around 50 saplings of different species were planted. Manish Agarwal, principal of the institution, Sanjeev Sharma and principals of various ITIs of the district motivated students to ensure that no plant is damaged. It should be everyone’s responsibility to take care of them.
