Amritsar hooch tragedy: 2 Delhi traders among 4 more nabbed

Two more traders from Delhi have been arrested by the Amritsar rural police in connection with the Amritsar hooch tragedy. Till now, a total of 15 persons have been arrested.

The Delhi-based traders had supplied methanol that was seized at Patiala. Around 600 litres of methanol was recovered by the police. Yesterday, 11 suspects were nabbed.

Meanwhile, the condition of 10 persons admitted in the hospital continued to be critical. As many as 21 persons, all of whom were labourers, had lost their lives after consuming spurious liquor in five villages of Majitha subdivision on Tuesday.

These included Maradi Kalan, Bhangali Kalan, Thariyewal, Patalpuri and Talwandi Ghuman villages.

The police registered two separate FIRs on charges of murder, culpable homicide and under the Excise Act against suspects.
