The Municipal Corporation has launched an initiative to improve waste management by collecting household waste and converting it into compost. The initiative aims to promote recycling and sustainability.

Under the programme, waste such as plastic and biodegradable materials would be segregated for processing. Health Officer Dr Kiran Kumar said the initiative, named the Material Recovery Facility, would involve MC employees collecting waste from households, sorting it and sending recyclable materials to local dealers.

Various NGOs are supporting the project on a no-profit-no-loss basis, while public awareness campaigns educate citizens on the importance of waste segregation.
