The Amritsar Municipal Corporation (MC) is making all efforts for the maintenance of sewerage system in the city so that people do not face any problem. This was stated by MC Commissioner Harpreet Singh today. Earlier, one contractor was allotted contract by the MC for the maintenance of sewer lines, he said. Due to this, maintenance work was not done properly, he said. Now, the MC would allot tenders for three to four wards in the city, he added. It would cost the MC Rs 4.5 crore, he said. Maintenance work would be done properly by several contractors and they would also be held responsible for the work, he said.

The MC Commissioner said he had already issued orders to officials of the operation and maintenance wing to visit their respective areas and resolve sewer-related complaints of residents on priority. The Commissioner said he himself visited various areas of the city and met residents. He assured that the MC would resolve sewer-related problems in the city soon.
