The Gate Hakima police here arrested two thieves who burgled a house in the Bhagtanwala area 10 days ago. The thieves, identified as Aman (35) and Abhay (22), stole Rs 10 lakh from the house owned by Deepak Kumar, a resident of Gali Aave Wali.

The police recovered Rs 4 lakh from the thieves’ possession and are investigating further. According to Additional DCP Vishaljit Singh, Deepak Kumar had withdrawn Rs 7 lakh from a bank on November 30 and had Rs 3 lakh already in his wardrobe.

On December 1, Kumar found the cash stolen from his house. The police registered a case and scanned CCTV footage to identify the thieves. Aman, a habitual offender, had 9 cases against him in Amritsar city, Amritsar rural, and Tarn Taran districts.
