Two armed men, accomplices of gangsters lodged in jail, fired at the house of a resident of Chaudhriwala (Naushehra Pannuan) village on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

The victim Jagjit Singh, in his statement to the Sarhali police, said that two armed men fired at his residence. After some time, he received a recorded call on his mobile the same night.

The caller who introduced himself as gangster Mohpreet Singh alias Moh, a resident of Thathian Mahantan, was lodged in jail. He said that he along with another gangster Gurpreet Singh Gopi Nambardar were the mastermind behind the firing at his residence at night.

Moh demanded Rs 50 lakh as extortion money and threatened that one member of his family would be killed soon in case he refused to oblige them. A case has been registered.
