ASI Harpal Singh, a resident of Mari Nau Abad village and posted at the Naushehra Pannuan police post under Sarhali police station, was arrested by the Goindwal Sahib police for trespassing on the premises of a woman cop’s house at Dehra Sahib village here last night. The accused ASI was produced in the court which sent him to the Amritsar Central Jail.

Goindwal Sahib DSP Ravinderpal Singh said the ASI in his Swift car (PB-46 Y-6296) went to the house of a woman constable at Dehra Sahib village, 30 km from here. He told her family members that he was in love with the woman constable. Balwinder Singh, father of the girl, objected to his remarks and informed the Goindwal Sahib police.

Police nab thief from Delhi

Amritsar: The police claimed to have nabbed a notorious thief, who was involved in several theft cases, from Delhi. The accused has been identified as Manpreet Singh, alias Rishu, a resident of Ganda Singh Colony. The police recovered an iron rod, gold ear-rings and a mobile phone.

Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, in-charge, CIA, said the accused was involved in several theft cases in the city.

Similarly, the police arrested two persons, who looted Rs 50,000 from an elderly man, Tilk Raj, at gunpoint from Gokal Avenue on March 2. The accused have been identified as Satinderjit Singh and Mehar Singh. The accused used to target elderly people outside banks or ATM booths. The police recovered a pistol, a motorcycle and cash from the accused. — TNS
