An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Baldev Singh of the city police, Tarn Taran, was injured in an encounter between the police and gangsters. A gangster too received serious injuries when the police opened fire in retaliation.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Abhimanyu Rana, said that the injured ASI Baldev Singh had been admitted to a local private hospital.

The details of the encounter were awaited.
