ASIs suspended after accused absconds from police custody in Chabal

An accused who absconded from police custody on Sunday has been booked by the Chabal police under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) for negligence in duty. The ASIs, identified as Jatinder Singh and Karam Singh, were suspended today by the SSP office.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Inderjit Singh of Chabal police said the accused Heera Singh of Chabal Kalan was arrested with heroin on Saturday and was being taken to the court on Sunday. The court sent Heera Singh to two days of police remand. The accused Heera Singh absconded from police custody on way back to the Chabal police station. The three have been booked under section 262, 263 and 264 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The services of the Assistant Sub-Inspectors have been suspended with immediate effect.
