The committee, led locally by former MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, interacted with the affected farmers and villagers to gather details of the damage.
Maluka said that the affected farmers and the other residents have informed the committee members that at this crucial time, they were facing hardships and the government was missing from the scene with people having been left to suffer on their own. He said that there is an urgent need for fodder to feed livestock, repair breached embankments, diesel for reconstruction work, seeds for the next crop, and fogging to prevent the spread of diseases. He added that 16,500 acres of cropland in the constituency had been completely devastated and demanded adequate compensation for the victims. The SAD leaders in the committee were Alwinderpal Singh Pakhoke, SGPC member Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala, Kuldeep Singh Aulakh, Jagjit Singh Jaggi of Chohla and Satnam Singh Satta.
