The Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM), along with the Punjabi and Sanskrit academic and literary community, expressed its deep sorrow on the passing of Dr Rattan Singh Jaggi, a guiding light and messiah for researchers of the Punjabi literature.

Principal Kulwant Singh Ankhi, Dr Charanjit Singh Gumtala and other members paid respectful tribute to Dr Jaggi, remembering him as a true “Rattan” (gem) of Punjabi academic literature. His eternal absence has caused an irreparable loss to Punjabi literary research. His scholarly work on the Dasam Granth has proved to be extremely valuable, they said.

Dr Rattan Singh Jaggi was an authentic and realistic researcher, a distinguished teacher, disciplined, punctual, soft-spoken, sincere, composed, student-focused and a personality that lived life with grace. He made both qualitative and quantitative contributions to the academic growth of Punjabi University, Patiala. His research on “Dasam Granth” is a milestone and lighthouse for the religious researchers
