A day after search operation in the Maqboolpura area, the city police on Thursday carried out another cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Anngarh area, infamous for bootlegging and drug addiction.

During the search operation, the police have nabbed a notorious bootlegger identified as Gurdayal Singh, alias Bittu Chupni, from the area. It also recovered 1,101 bottles of alcohol from his residence, besides Rs 2.72 lakh from his possession.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Parvesh Chopra, said that Gurdayal was infamous bootlegger having around 24 cases under the Excise and NDPS Act against him.

On the directions of state government to tighten noose around the drug peddles and bootleggers, the police have been conducting cordon and search operations in the areas notorious from drug addiction. He said such operations would continue in near future. On Wednesday, a similar operation was conducted in the Maqboolpura area.
