The metro bus service being run under Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in the city is selected for award of excellence under the category of ‘Best Urban Mass Transit Project’ by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Afairs.

Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Managing Director, Punjab Infrastructure Development Board, will receive the award from Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and other dignitaries at the valedictory session of the 12th Urban Mobility India Conference and Exhibition to be held on November 17 at Lucknow.

Inderjeet Singh Chawla, Chief Executive Officer, said, “The award sub-committee of the ministry did a comparative analysis with the other functional BRTS in the country. We have achieved maximum points for the design and its execution. The frequency of buses, sanitation and safety are the main components behind this achievement”. Punjab Bus Metro Society officials congratulated the staff and residents for this achievement. The metro bus witnessed around 25,000 ridership daily and officials claimed that it is gradually increasing.
