Kar Sewa sect, Khadoor Sahib, organised a function dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the plantation drive at Nishan-e-Sikhi, Khadoor Charitable Trust Complex on Friday. The function was held under the patronship of Baba Sewa Singh, chief of the sect. The function was attended by Justice Adarsh Kumar Goyal (former judge, Supreme Court of India and former Chairperson, National Green Tribunal) as the chief guest while Justice Akshay Kumar Rath (former judge, Odisha High Court), Justice Jasbir Singh (ex-judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and ex-Chairperson, Green Tribunal, Punjab) were the special guests.

Nirmaljit Singh Randhawa, Chief Forester, Plains Area, Punjab, Dr Jasdev Singh Roy, SHRG, London and Albert Barseghian, in their respective address, laid stress on making the environment free of pollution. The dignitaries planted saplings at Bhai Bala Ji Hostel, Khadoor Sahib. Environmentalist Jagroop Singh shared views regarding work in environmental conservation being done by Nishan-e-Sikhi, Kar Sewa Sect, Khadoor Sahib, with the support of Sangat. Albert Barseghian gave an overview of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and spoke about their compatibility with Sikh principles. Justice Akshay Kumar Rath explained the causes and solutions to the problems of pollution by showing the integral relationship between man and nature through Sanskrit shlokas. Justice Jasbir Singh emphasised on simple living and understanding personal responsibility for immediate solutions to the effects of climate change.
