A special training camp was held today at Dana Manji, Majitha, to raise awareness about the proper management of paddy stubble. Dr Harjinder Singh, Agriculture Development Officer, explained the harmful effects of stubble burning. He informed farmers that burning parali pollutes the air and damages soil health.

He also shared information about machines provided by the Agriculture Department on subsidy to help manage stubble, including Super Seeder, Surface Seeder, Mulcher, Baler, Raker, Zero Drill and Reverse Plough.

Dr Sikander Singh, Agriculture Development Officer, apprised participants about the current paddy crop. He guided farmers on the correct use of fertilisers and pesticides and warned against overusing urea.

SDM Majitha made a special appeal to farmers, urging them to not burn stubble. She encouraged them to mix it into the soil instead. Dr Sonali from the “Care for Lungs Foundation” also spoke to farmers about the health problems caused by stubble burning, especially breathing issues.

Many officials from the Agriculture Department were present, including Dr Shukhchain Singh Project Director ATMA; Dr Amanpreet Singh Marketing Officer; Amarjeet Singh; Saranjit Singh; and others.
