Khalsa College of Nursing (KCN) organised its Annual Sports Day. The day commenced with a spectacular opening ceremony, featuring a march past by four different houses: Callista’s House, Nightingale’s House, Henderson’s House and Orem’s House, followed by a welcome address and inspiring speech by Principal Dr Amanpreet Kaur. Afterwards, various track and field events started including badminton, marble race, three-leg race, Chatti race, octopus race, 100m race, relay race, long jump, shot put, javelin throw and tug-of-war showcasing the athletic talent and competitive spirit of the participants. The audience cheered enthusiastically as athletes displayed their skills, determination and true sportsmanship. In the closing ceremony, winners were honoured with medals, trophies and certificates by the dignitaries. One of the highlights of the event was the Best Male Athlete and Best Female Athlete awards that were bagged by Kanwarjeet Singh (Post Basic B.Sc 1st year) and Navneet Kaur (GNM 2nd year), respectively. Jaspreet Kaur (GNM 2nd year), Navdeep Kaur (GNM 3rd year) and Navneet Kaur (GNM 2nd year) won cash prizes worth Rs 3,100, Rs 2,100 and Rs 1,100 for divinity exam conducted by Anukiranjit Kaur and Harleen Kaur, both Assistant Professors. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Assistant Professor Kawaljeet Kaur.

Placement drive at KCVAS

Bavya Health Services Pvt Ltd organised a placement drive at Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS). Lingraj Das, national coordinator, Bavya Health Services Pvt Ltd, had arrived from Patna for the placement drive, giving an opportunity to KCVAS students to join the programme. The company approached the college for recruitment of passing out/fresh veterinary doctors under the mobile veterinary unit programme in 537 blocks of Bihar state. The company offered Rs 65,000 per month salary to the veterinary doctors with other facilities like vehicle, support staff viz para vet, driver along with good service conditions. The veterinarians will be appointed as ‘Mobile Veterinary Officer’ and they will cover two villages under the block to treat sick animals. They have similar projects in Chhattisgarh and Haryana where 200 veterinarians are working. It is a win-win situation for the vets. After completing the degree, they will immediately get an appointment letter. It is a Central Government project for providing veterinary health services to the farmers in rural areas under the project.
