Students from various schools in the area participated in the event. The budding students of SRA won the hearts of judges with their talent and bagged a number of titles. Navya Sharma (Nursery A) won the second prize for her dance performance. Shinoy (Nursery D) performed as ‘Narad Muni’ and got the title of best smile and healthy teeth. Prabh (LKG-C) was titled the most stylish while Mahavir (LKG-D) and Meharleen Kaur (LKG-E) won the title of the most confident child. Savi, Alina, Daviti, Anaisha and Yuvraj also won certificates of participation. School president Balbir Bajaj congratulated the winners and their parents.
Varsity team runner-up in youth fest
The cultural team of Guru Nanak Dev University secured the 2nd runner-up position at the 37th North Zone Inter University Youth Festival. The event, organised by Punjabi University, Patiala, from January 31 to February 4, under the banner of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), witnessed a spirited display of talent and creativity from the 18 participating universities. In an outstanding display of artistic prowess GNDU’s contingent comprising 54 students participated in 26 events. In the event-wise tally, GNDU secured the first spot in classical instrumental (non-percussion) and western group song while they came second in classical instrumental (percussion), western vocal solo, classical dance, skit, mimicry, and rangoli-making. The GNDU team also achieved the third position in classical vocal solo, light vocal Indian, group song Indian, western instrumental solo, folk dance, quiz and collage-making.
Seminar dwells on e-resources
A seminar on ‘access of e-resources’ was held in Khalsa College of Nursing (KCN). Various aspects of Health Sciences Library Network (HSLIBNET) — an e-journal — created by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, were discussed. Principal Amanpreet Kaur said the seminar was organised on the directions of BFUHS Vice-Chancellor Rajeev Sood. The training session was led by EBSCO trainer-cum-expert (North India) Ritesh Kumar who enlightened the participants about EBSCO host’s features and its potential in research and academics. More than 140 participants from five recognised nursing Institutes, including Khalsa College of Nursing, Guru Teg Bahadur College of Nursing, Anand College of Nursing, Chief Khalsa Diwan College of Nursing and Amandeep College of Nursing took part in the event.
Lab inaugurated at gndu
A virtual corporate interaction lab was inaugurated at the University School of Financial Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University. The virtual set-up was sponsored by Grasim Industries Limited, a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, under the Corporate Environment Responsibility (CER) initiative. Dean Academic Affairs Bikramjit Singh Bajwa and Punjab Pollution Control Board Chairperson Adarsh Pal Vig presided over the event. University School of Financial Studies Head Harsandaldeep Kaur highlighted the significance of the new lab for the department. Dr Bajwa also lauded the efforts of the department faculty for the setting up the innovative lab.
