Amritsar: A three-day scout and guide camp was organised at Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, Chabhal, under the leadership of ANOs Karamjit Kaur and Baljinder Singh. Dilbag Singh (DTC scout), Harpal Singh (DOC scout), Gurpartap Singh (secretary scout), Haramritpal Singh (coordinator scout) attended the camp and guided the students. Students were made aware of giving first-aid. Addressing the students, the school management and Principal Anureet Bawa said we should stay disciplined and come forward to help those around us in times of trouble.

DAV conducts Bioconnect fest

The Department of Biotechnology, DAV College, organised an intra-departmental event, Bioconnect, under the aegis of Innovative Insights Society of Biotechnology. Principal Amardeep Gupta addressed the students and asked them to come up with innovative ideas to meet industry standards. The activities organised included success stories of biotechnology, keen observer, AD mad, memory check, guess the instrument. The students of BSc Biotechnology (semester V) hosted the event. The students highlighted the success of pest resistant variety of cotton (BT cotton) and first cloned buffalo (Garima). Books were also distributed to meritorious students.

World Photography Day

PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Khalsa College, organised a one-day guest lecture on World Photography Day. Karamveer Sandhu, professional photographer from Jalandhar was the chief guest on this occasion. Vice-Principal Taminder Bhatia and Sania Marwaha, in-charge of the department, welcomed the chief guest. Sandhu said photography is the art of capturing the right emotions at the right time. He also acquainted the students about practical skills required to become professional photographers.

Workshop on sports rehabilitation

‘Rebound’, a one-day workshop focusing on sports specific rehabilitation in association with Abhinav Bindra Foundation, Amandeep Hospitals and Sironix was held at the MYAS, GNDU, Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine. The workshop was attended by over 85 students and faculty members from the department. The speakers talked about the diagnosis and rehabilitation of various sports injuries using the latest available techniques. Amrinder Singh, Head of Department, inaugurated the workshop and welcomed the speakers. Dr Inderdeep Singh, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Amandeep Hospital, emphasised the importance of the clinical examination and the imaging of knee and shoulder injuries in sports persons for successful rehabilitation of injuries.

Exam schedule released

The online examination form submission and fee payments for December, 2024, exams of undergraduate semester 1,3,5,7,9 and postgraduate semester 1, 3 (except BEd sem-1 and Law TYC/FYIC sem 1) for regular and private students through online portal http://collegeadmissions.gndu.ac.in/loginNew.aspx has been scheduled as per below mentioned dates. Examination forms for annual system examinations (special chance/additional subject, re-appear, improvement) will be submitted manually at the university cash counter, said Shalini Bahel, Professor in-charge (examination). She said the grace period of three days is already added in exam fee dates, so no extra time will be given. Schedule for Law (TYC) Semester 1 and Law FYIC Semester 1, BEd Semester 1 will be released later.
