Amritsar: Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School (SGHPS), Chabhal, under the aegis of the CKD, as per the instructions of the CBSE, conducted SAFAL (Structured Assessment for Analyzing Learning) Mock (2024-2025). The main objective of this online computer exam is to enable students’ learning based on competency instead of rote learning. The passed out students of grade V and VIII in the year 2023 will appear for this online computer exam starting from July 22 till August 12. Before appearing for this online exam, a three-day mock test was being conducted from July 8 in the school with the contribution of computer coordinator Manjinder Kaur and computer teachers. The school management and principal Anureet Bawa appreciated this effort of the CBSE as it will not only enhance intellectual level of the pupils, but also prepare them for the upcoming competitive exams in the long run.

Placement drive at university

The Directorate of Placement and Career Enhancement of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) organised a campus placement drive by Gujarat Gas Company for MBA, B.Tech Mechanical Engg and B.Tech civil engineering students of GNDU, Amritsar. A team of five members headed by Satyen Trivedi visited GNDU for the recruitment process. Students from the University Business School, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engg. Departments, participated in the recruitment drive and finally two MBA students and two B.Tech (Mechanical) students (total 4) were selected by the company. The MBA students have been offered a package of Rs 8 lakh per annum and B.Tech students Rs 6 lakh per annum.

GNDU Mgmt Entrance Test

Guru Nanak Dev University will conduct the entrance test for admission to MBA courses on July 14. Exam Coordinator prof Vikram Sandhu informed the students that the GMET-2024 entrance exam will be held on July 14 at the University Business School, which is near the Ram Tirtha Road gate of the university. The counselling will start from July 17. He said the students can download their admit card from the university website and various update information related to the entrance test and counselling can be seen from time to time on the university website.

Students shine in PBSTE, IT Exams

Students of Global Group of Institutes bagged the second and third positions in the merit list released by the PBSTE and IT for 1st Semester, Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Sahejbir Singh secured the second and Rudra Kalia secured the third positions, respectively, in the state. The meritorious students have joined their seniors, who performed excellently in various examinations since the inception of the institute in 2008. Dr M S Saini, campus director, congratulated the students, their parents, principal Charanjit Singh and the hard working faculty of the Polytechnic Department on this achievement. He said this remarkable performance by the students is the result of the efforts put in by the teachers in providing the best to the students. Dr Akashdeep Singh Chandi, vice-chairman, Global Group of Institutes, congratulated the students on this feat of occupying the pride of place in the PBSTE and IT merit list.

Aayushi excels in University Exams

Students of DAV College, Amritsar, made their institute proud by getting excellent marks in the university examinations. In a recent development, Ayushi Wahi secured the third position in the university merit by securing 1643 marks out of 2150 in BBA (6th semester). She also stood first in the district. College principal Dr Amardeep Gupta congratulated the student on her wonderful performance in the university examinations and gave his blessings. Aayushi gave the credit of this success to the faculty members of the college. TNS

Skill India competition

Prateek Dutt, a student of Applied Art of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, participated in Skill India 2024 competition. Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra expressed her delight while sharing that Prateek Dutt Sharma of BFA Semester-8 of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, participated in Skill India competition held in Delhi. The event was organised by Government of India. In the competition, nearly 900 students from 30 different states participated in over 61 trades. Prateek Dutt participated in ‘Visual Merchandising’ and won third prize at the national level, a medal and a certificate for the same. Dutt shared that it was an absolute privilege to participate in the competition. Dr Dhingra congratulated him. She also acknowledged the efforts of Anil Gupta, Head, Department of Applied Art, and the other faculty members of the department— Vikram, Manoj and Kunj — for guiding him.
