Amritsar: Rotary Club entrusted the responsibility to spearhead the projects and programmes of its student governing body, ‘Interact Club’, in a ceremony held at Spring Dale Senior School. Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, Chairman, Spring Dale Educational Society, said that Spring Dale Senior School today hosted the installation ceremony of new DIR during the District Interact Assembly. Sandhu proudly shared that Gursidak Kaur Boparai, a student of grade XI of Spring Dale Senior School is being entrusted with the responsibility to lead the Rotary Club programmes as the DIR (District Interact Representative). School principal Rajiv Kumar Sharma said, “Gursidak will bear the responsibility to plan and implement the programmes of community welfare as guided by the Rotary vision and she will also be a flag-bearer of the Spring Dale ethos of youth empowerment.”

Amritsar: Tech enthusiasts from Shri Ram Ashram Public School, the Mall, Amritsar, showcased their technological prowess at Metaverse 2.0 at DCM School, Ludhiana. Standing out among 24 schools from Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Delhi, Ambala, Amritsar and Jalandhar, the Ashramites secured an impressive eight awards, the highest count from any participating school. Each accolade was a testament to the hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence. The talented students demonstrated exceptional innovation, securing top positions in eight distinct events. The first position holders include Nikunj Arora, Ayushi Pal, Parangat, Ansh Kumar, Divyam Gupta and Aastha Sharma. Anshika Raswant and Sparsh got second positions and Shivansh Thukral third. Dr Vinodita Sankhyan, brimming with joy, highlighted that it was the only school in Amritsar that is imparting a technologically advanced platform to the students.

Open-door workshop at GNDU

Amritsar: An open-door workshop titled ‘Energy efficiency and green hydrogen for rural India of 2047 and beyond’ was organised by the Department of Chemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University, in collaboration with Brunel University, London, UK. Expert lectures were delivered by leading global experts including Prof Harjit Singh (Brunel University London), Prof Narinder Singh (Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar), Prof Rakesh Arrawatia (Institute of Rural Management, Anand, Gujarat), Prof Suresh Sivan (National Institute of Technology, Trichy, Tamil Nadu), Prof Rajeev Kumar (Panjab University, Chandigarh), Dr Anshul Paneri (Arktik Renewables and Energy Efficiency Ltd, India) and Dr Mayil Vivekananthan (Hild Electric, India). The lectures and subsequent discussions were focused on the energy needs of India beyond 2047 and the zero-carbon energy generation and efficiency technologies.
