Amritsar Central constituency MLA Dr Ajay Gupta today announced that 12 mobile cancer screening buses from World Cancer Care have started operating across the state. He said these buses will visit villages and towns to hold free cancer check-up camps and raise awareness about cancer.

Dr Gupta appreciated Dr Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman of World Cancer Care, for organising 350 free camps in Punjab to mark Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th martyrdom year. He added that during these camps, free tests — including mammography for breast cancer, PAP smear test for cervical cancer, PSA test for prostate cancer in men, oral screening for mouth and throat cancer, bone density test, besides blood tests, will be available.

Dr Gupta said these services will help save time and money. Calling it a new beginning in the fight against cancer, he said the mobile buses would bring testing and care directly to people’s doorsteps. He pointed out that cancer is a serious issue in Punjab.
