In a swift operation, a police team from Kot Khalsa under Islamabad police station in Amritsar has arrested an accused involved in robbing a carpenter after calling him to the area on the pretext of giving him work.

The accused has been identified as Tejinder Singh alias Joban, a resident of village Sursingh, under Bhikhiwind police station. Police also recovered the Bajaj Platina motorcycle and the Splendor motorcycle used during the crime from his possession.

The complainant Surjit Singh, a resident of Sultanwind Road, here told the police that he works as a carpenter and had been receiving calls from one Joban from Kot Khalsa regarding carpentry work. On the evening of October 4, the complainant went to Bohri Sahib Road, Kot Khalsa, where Joban and his accomplice allegedly robbed him of his motorcycle and Rs 10,000 in cash and fled the scene.

Following the complaint, a case was registered at Islamabad police station for offences under sections 304(2) and 3(5) of BNS.

The probe revealed that the accused also has a criminal background with an FIR registered against him with Kotwali police.

ADCP Vishaljit Singh and ACP Jaspal Singh said that efforts were on to nab his accomplice, identified as Ravi, and more recoveries are likely to be made during their interrogation.
