Centre has aided works worth Rs 100-cr: Malik

Malik said that 81 overhead tanks are being built at a cost of Rs 500 crore to supply clean drinking water to every household under the “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal” scheme. A new Outer Circular Road has been constructed outside 12 gates of the old city for Rs 120 crore, with underground electricity cables, wider lanes and decorative lights, he added.
He added that to strengthen law and order, 1,254 CCTV cameras worth Rs 100 crore have been installed across the city, helping police catch criminals. In the education sector, 35 schools have been given smart classrooms with internet facilities.
For better lighting, 66,000 new LED lights have been set up. Heritage streets near Shri Harmandir Sahib and Durgiana Mandir have also been developed at an estimated cost of Rs100 crore, Malik said.
The BJP leader informed that new fire tenders with 70-feet ladders have been provided, while a multistorey parking for 400 vehicles is being built at Kairon Market at a cost of Rs 50 crore. Several parks and green belts have been developed, along with the beautification of Gol Bagh, Company Bagh and other old parks, he said.
He said the Modi government has also upgraded Amritsar’s airport, railway station, Jallianwala Bagh, bridges and launched the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway.
