Phulkari – Women of Amritsar (WOA) unveiled its latest community outreach initiatives, including the annual Tealathon marathon for cervical cancer awareness. The president, Minakshi Khanna, said this year’s efforts would focus on strengthening community bonds, empowering women and promoting impactful philanthropy.

Khanna shared the organisation would continue to expand two of its key outreach campaigns — the digital literacy programme and cervical cancer awareness. As part of this, ‘Tealathon 2025’, a marathon dedicated to raising awareness about cervical cancer, would take place on April 13. The event would start at Dussehra Ground, Ranjit Avenue and offer various participation options: 1 km, 3 km, 5 km and 10 km, urging citizens of all ages to join in. “The Tealathon is more than just a run; it’s a movement for health education and proactive screening. With Dr Amandeep of Amandeep Group of Hospitals and Cancer Centres of America (CCA) supporting the event, it will significantly enhance public understanding of cervical cancer prevention,” said Gayatri Khanna, Conquer Cancer Program Head at Phulkari.

The Tealathon would also see new partnerships with local women-led businesses, including Funarty, Couture by Khurana and Harmony Infra, who are all committed to pushing the message of cervical cancer awareness.

Minakshi Khanna also stressed the importance of sustainability, calling it a shared responsibility for future generations. As part of this commitment, she announced an e-waste recycling collection drive in June, in celebration of World Environment Day. She invited everyone to help make Phulkari a more inclusive, innovative and sustainable community.

The event was attended by Governing Body members, including Praneet Bubber (Founder and Joint Chairperson, Conquer Cancer), Sandhya Sikka, Deepa Swani, Aarti Khanna and Sheetal Sohal.
