Chandigarh grenade blast suspects sent to judicial custody

Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, the two suspects in the Chandigarh hand grenade attack, were produced in court by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) after their police remand expired. The court then sent them to judicial custody. Now, the Chandigarh Police will likely arrest them after obtaining a production warrant.

The suspects allegedly hurled a hand grenade at a house in Sector 10, Chandigarh, on instructions from US-based gangster Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Pashia, and Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda. The Punjab Police termed the incident a terror attack targeting a former cop who previously resided at the house.

After the blast, CCTV footage surfaced, identifying the suspects as Rohan Masih from Pashia village in Amritsar, and Vishal Masih from Dera Baba Nanak, in Gurdaspur, near the Pakistan border. A manhunt led to Rohan’s arrest in Amritsar and Vishal’s apprehension in Delhi with central agency assistance.

The duo was initially arrested by SSOC on September 8 for cross-border weapon smuggling. Investigations revealed that Happy Pashia promised rewards to the suspects, but later reneged on his promise.
