Shopkeepers and business operators downed shutters and left for an undisclosed destination when they came to know about the checking against child labour and child begging in the bazaars of the city on Wednesday.

Rajesh Kumar, District Child Security Officer, said that on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Rahul, a police team along with a district-level task force comprising Upkar Singh, Labor Inspector, Neha Nayyar, Legal Officer and Pardeep Kumar, local councillor, inspected a number of shops. The team rescued two child labourers. The rescued child labourers were admitted to schools and assured of all help to carry on their studies.

The team raided different places notorious for child beggars and called upon residents to inform on the child helpline number 1098 to improve the lives of these child workers.
