CIA staff nab four for arms smuggling, hawala racket
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Staff of Amritsar rural police on Saturday arrested four persons for allegedly smuggling weapons and running a hawala racket.
DGP Gaurav Yadav revealed that among those arrested were Jagroop Singh alias Baba, Hardeep Singh, Rajbir Singh alias Gullu, and Arsal Singh alias Rasal Singh.
They were linked to Pakistani smugglers, he added.
“In decisive action against illegal arms and hawala networks, Amritsar (Rural) police apprehended four persons: Jagroop Singh alias Baba, Hardeep Singh, Rajbir Singh alias Gullu, and Arsal Singh alias Rasal Singh, linked to Pakistani smugglers. The accused were involved in facilitating illegal financial transactions and smuggling weapons,” he said on X.
The police recovered four 9mm Glock pistols, along with five magazines and Rs 3.05 lakh in hawala money, from their possession.
A case has been registered at Gharinda Police Station in this connection and efforts are underway to trace forward and backward linkages of this cross-border smuggling network, the DGP said.
