Teams of the Municipal Corporation reached the market early in the day to monitor waste disposal practices and curb unhygienic activities in the area.
The action was carried out on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill. During the inspection, the teams warned rehri-farhi vendors against littering in the open and instructed them to dispose of waste strictly at designated collection points. Several challans were issued to those found violating cleanliness rules.
Officials said that maintaining the city’s cleanliness, public hygiene and environmental health requires collective responsibility from all stakeholders. They added that strict action will continue against individuals or establishments creating public nuisance, spreading litter or obstructing sanitation operations. The Municipal Commissioner appealed to vendors, shopkeepers and residents to cooperate with the civic body and keep their surroundings clean.
Dr Rama, Chief Sanitary Inspector Anil Dogra, sanitary inspectors of the West Zone and motivators were present during the drive.
