Community rallies to support flood-hit in Ramdass, Ajnala

The Amritsar Police Commissionerate dispatched three truck-loads of daily use items, water and medicines to help people in the flood-affected areas of Ramdass and Ajnala.

Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said these trucks contained 700 packets of biscuits, juice, rusk, salt, bread, jam, pickle, murabba, matchsticks, candles, mosquito coils and paper. Apart from this, 1.20 lakh bottles of drinking water and medicines were also sent.

These items were collected with the help of police personnel, NGOs and donated to help the people trapped in the flood. Efforts to help the needy will continue, he assured.

Members of Khudai Khidmatgaran have collected Rs 75,000 for aid. Sugar, milk food, ready-to-eat items, bakery products and matchsticks have already been distributed. Fresh bun, atta bread, jam, tarpaulin and medicines will also be provided.

For animals, chokkar, rice bran, rice nakku, coarse flour and molasses mixed together will be provided as fodder. Free services of Tata pick-up to carry articles to the destination are available for all as no car can go there.

Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust on Sunday despatched 20 tonnes of fodder. Founder of the Trust Dr SP Singh Oberoi said currently everybody is going through a difficult period. Therefore, it is the duty of all, especially the NRIs, to come forward and help people affected by the flood.
