Addressing a gathering of party workers and officer-bearers, Harminder Singh Gill, former MLA and district president of the Congress party, called upon them to be ready for the coming elections of Panchayati Raj institutions. The local bodies’ elections are expected to be announced any time now.

In his scathing attack on the performance of the state government, Gill said it was rare that the AAP government had been condemned by its own MLAs in the Vidhan Sabha session. Gill said that the law and order situation and development works in the state have suffered and gangsterism and corruption have a free run. He said that the weaker sections have become a victim of the state government’s lethargy as they were not receiving justice at the grassroots level.

He claimed that it was only the Congress which has a chance of defeating the other political parties. PPCC member Maninder Pal Singh Plasaur, Avtar Singh Taneja, Ranjjit Singh Rana, Seema Sharma and Ravneet Singh Jallewal were among those who addressed the meeting of party workers.
