Amritsar, August 16

Several government employee unions held a protest rally on Independence Day greeting CM Capt Amarinder Singh with black flags.

The front led by honorarium and contractual employees’ union said the government had not met any demand of the workers in the last four-and-a-half years. They said the government had promised to regularise contractual employees after coming to power. But even after four-and-a-half years, the CM had come up with no such decision.

They said the government was not even enforcing the constitutional right to minimum wages for ASHA workers, facilitators and mid-day meal workers.
