A cordon and search operation (CASO) was conducted at Usma village falling under the jurisdiction of Naushehra Pannuan police post under the Sarhali police station here on Monday. The operation, led by DSP Lovkesh (Patti subdivision), was carried out jointly by the SHO, Sarhali police station, Sub-Inspector Baljinder Singh and Naushehra Pannuan police post in-charge SI Balwinder Singh.

The operation was initiated based on complaints regarding drug-related activities in the village. Multiple houses, specifically those named in the complaint, were thoroughly searched. However, no banned or prohibited narcotic substances were recovered from any of the premises. A listed drug supplier residing in the village has been identified. Action is underway, and the individual is expected to be arrested by tomorrow.

During the operation, a few individuals found to be addicts were taken into custody and subsequently admitted to a de-addiction centre for treatment and rehabilitation. DSP Lovkesh said public opinion was also gathered and people pledged unanimous support for the police efforts to combat drugs.
