Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested suspect was working on the directions of a Pakistan-based handler. He had reportedly retrieved the heroin consignment that was pushed across the International Border using drones.

According to officials, a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar. Officials said further investigation is underway to unravel the backward and forward linkages, identify other members of the network, and track the finances and supply channels associated with the consignment.

A senior CI officer said the operation highlights the sustained attempts by Pakistan-based drug syndicates to flood Punjab with narcotics.
