Amritsar, February 16

The PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Khalsa College, Amritsar, organised a media festival ‘Media Mela 2020’ on its premises.

Over 20 colleges and universities from across the state participated in 16 media-related competitions, which was inaugurated by college Principal Dr Mehal Singh and PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication incharge Prof Amanjyoti Kaur.

A special photography exhibition was also displayed in the department giving young student photographers a platform to showcase their photography skills.

Among all, Chandigarh University and DAV College, Jalandhar, won the overall championship trophy by bagging most positions in the 16 competitions.

The competitions were held in radio jockey, ad-mad, news anchoring, quiz, logo making, interview seeking, declamation, extempore, photography, poetry, dance, nukkad natak and many more. All competitions concluded simultaneously followed by a cultural programme.

Speaking on the occasion, college Principal Mehal Singh said, “Media is the fourth pillar of democracy and we are glad to organise such media related events in the college campus.”

He stressed on the importance of giving platform for the budding journalists to express their talent.

Department incharge Prof. Amanjyoti Kaur announced the new course of one-year diploma in photography being introduced from new session.

Meanwhile, professors Amit Kumar, Muskaan dhawan, Harmandeep Kaur, Nirva Safria, Varinder Singh and Jagdeep Singh with their student co-ordinators made this festival a success.
