The event, which was organised by a private hospital, aimed to promote awareness about stroke (paralysis) and encourage fitness among the community. The cyclothon was flagged off by Councillor Kriti Arora; Municipal Corporation Assistant Commissioner Vishal Wadhawan; along with Dr Ashok Uppal, Dr Salil Uppal and Dr Shikhil Uppal.
Dr Ashok shared the primary objective of the cyclothon was to raise awareness about the preventive measures against serious conditions like stroke among people. He emphasised that regular exercise, such as cycling for 15-20 minutes a day, or adopting any form of sports or physical activity, is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent such diseases.
Dr Salil highlighted that the Indian Stroke Association has been organising similar cyclothons across the country to raise awareness about stroke and its prevention. He added that according to global data, one in every four individuals is at risk of suffering a stroke, and on average, three people every minute fall victim to it.
