Deputy Commissioner Shivdular Singh Dhillon on Wednesday flagged off SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) Rath to sensitise residents about voters’ list and about the amendments in the same. He said as per the directions of the Election Commission, citizens could now amend their Electors Photo Identity Cards by January 15. Detailing about the various forms, he said, Form 6 was for getting a new name registered into the list, Form 6A for the NRIs to register their names as voters and Form 7 for getting the objections removed from the voter’s list.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
