Delay in GST refund affecting traders’ capital, says PPBM

Traders and entrepreneurs have expressed their displeasure at excessive delay in GST refund upsetting their working capital. This and more troubles were brought by them to the notice of the GST Department as they submitted their representation to the District Excise and Taxation Commissioner (DETC), who also looks after the state GST, here on Tuesday.

A delegation of the Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal visited the office of the District Excise and Taxation Commissioner (DETC) Rajwinder Kaur and submitted a representation listing their demands. On behalf of the GST Department, besides the DETC, Pragati Sethi, Commissioner GST (District 1) and Navneet Sekhon, Commissioner GST (District 2), were present in the meeting.

Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal president Piara Lal Seth said excessive delay in GST refund is directly affecting the working capital of the entrepreneurs. They said that non-receipt of refund for a long time is hampering business activities.

Expressing reservation at the door-to-door survey at GST registered traders’ places, he sought survey or inspection at the premises of any GST trade’s place on solid information, that too, after informing about the reason in advance.

The visiting delegates sought regular communication with the GST department in future and devising of a strategy in collaboration with the trade associations of those areas which are affected by GST.
