DM cancels licence of visa firm over fraud allegations

District Magistrate Sakshi Sawhney has ordered the immediate cancellation of the licence of “Your Destination,” a visa consultancy located in Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar, under the provisions of the Punjab Travel Professionals Regulation Act, 2012, and the Human Smuggling Act.

The action was taken following a complaint lodged by Gursharan Singh Sodhi via email, alleging that the consultancy firm had defrauded him under the pretense of sending him abroad. The complaint was investigated by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Amritsar-2. After hearing the complainant and examining the case, it was found that the firm’s accreditation had expired on July 9, 2023, and it had been operating without valid authorisation since then.

Invoking powers under Section 6(1)(e) of the Punjab Travel Professionals Regulation Act, 2012, District Magistrate Sawhney revoked the licence of the firm with immediate effect. She further stated that if any additional complaints arise under any other law or regulation, the owner or proprietor will be held responsible.
