Documentary revives Partition memories

In a poignant moment, the management, staff and students of Mount Litera Zee School, and the invitees to the two-day Jivey Amritsar, the city’s first creative arts festival, relived the pain of Partition during the screening of ‘Amritsar Junction’, a documentary based on the Partition of India, as witnessed by Jagjeet Singh, the then stationmaster at the Amritsar railway station.

The documentary has been directed by Aditya Jambhale, winner of two national awards. Sarab Kaur Zavaleta, daughter of late Jagjeet Singh and Aditya Suhas Jambhale were also present on the occasion.

Manjot Dhillon, director, Mount Litera Zee School, Amritsar, said, the events of the inaugural day included a short speech on Guru Nanak Dev and his message on peace and brotherhood, screening and a talk on ‘Amritsar Junction’, followed by an interactive session on the same.

In addition, a musical rendition was offered by Awarthanga Chiru, chief vocalist of Manipuri rock band from Delhi.

The two-day event was organised in collaboration with FICCI FLO Amritsar Heritage and Tourism Foundation. MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla presided over the function as chief guest, while Inspector General of Police Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh was the guest of honour.
