Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Chairman of the Drafting Committee of India’s Constitution, was remembered on his 69th Parinirvan Diwas (death anniversary) by his followers here today. Paramjit Singh Gill, District Education Officer (retd), presided over the function organised to mark the occasion.

Among those who addressed the gathering were Baldev Singh Pannu and Sarwan Singh Rasulpur. They recalled Dr Ambedkar’s immense contribution to the welfare of the downtrodden, highlighting his efforts to uplift weaker sections of society through various reforms and provisions.

Speakers noted that Dr Ambedkar was an exceptional scholar who earned doctorates in economics from both Columbia University and the London School of Economics. They remembered him as an internationally recognised intellectual whose analysis of socio-political issues remains relevant even today.

The leaders urged members of the weaker sections to follow the path shown by Dr BR Ambedkar.
