The experts stated that drip irrigation is a highly efficient system that delivers water directly to the roots of the plants, reducing evaporation and runoff. This technique is particularly suitable for summer maize, which requires adequate moisture during its critical growth stages.

The agriculture department is also offering subsidies to farmers who adopt drip irrigation systems. The subsidy aims to encourage farmers to switch to this water conserving method, which will help reduce the pressure on groundwater resources. —
