The arrested accused have been identified as Amritsar residents Yuvraj Singh (Roriwal), Varinder Singh (Dhaul Kalan), Jagroop Singh (Sangna), and Jugraj Singh (Sarkaria Enclave).

The police have also impounded a black Hero Splendor motorcycle and a white Honda Activa scooter allegedly used to deliver drug consignments.

According to the DGP, the Amritsar CI received a tip-off that Yuvraj and Varinder, associates of Baba Lakha, had retrieved a heroin consignment from the Ajnala sector and were planning to deliver it to Jagroop Singh near Gurdwara Morcha Sahib.

Acting on the input, police teams laid the trap and arrested the trio, recovering the heroin consignment and a pistol from their possession.

During interrogation, Jagroop Singh disclosed that he was operating on the instructions of Daya Singh, alias Preet Sekhon, who is currently lodged in Central Jail, Sri Muktsar Sahib.

Further questioning led to the arrest of Jugraj Singh from Amritsar city, from whose possession Rs 3.90 lakh in drug money was recovered.

A case has been registered under sections 21, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act, and Section 25 of the Arms Act at the State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar, and further investigations are underway.
