Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that Singh, who has prior NDPS Act cases filed against him and was recently out on bail, was allegedly working with a Pakistan-based smuggler who used drones to drop weapon consignments.

“According to preliminary investigations, the accused were working in collusion with Pak-based smuggler, who has been using drones to drop weapon consignments from across the border,” the DGP said while adding that Harjinder was further distributing the arms to criminals and gangsters across Punjab in order to fuel criminal activities in the border state.

CI Amritsar received specific intelligence about retrieval of weapons consignments from international border with Pakistan from area falling near the village in Tarn Taran.

This bust follows a similar operation a fortnight ago where eight sophisticated weapons, 1 kg of heroin, and drug money were seized, leading to the arrest of three operatives. Police teams intercepted Harjinder Singh near Bohru Pul on the Amritsar-Jhabal road while he was en route to deliver the weapons.

Further investigations are underway to establish backward and forward linkages in the case and identify the person, who was supposed to receive the consignment.
